Lion R K. Agarwal graduated in commerce from Calcutta University and qualified as a fellow of the ICAI. He on Silver & Gold Medals for obtaining first rank on all India basis in ICAI Examination. He was the Managing Partner of S R Batliboi & Co. Chartered Accountants till his retirement in 2013.

He has served various positions in Club as well as District & was elected as District Governor in 1989-90. He has won many coveted awards and is associated with many social and philanthropic organisations. He is Past Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry, Eastern Region.
